I AM NOT LEGEND

AN ANDREA MASTROVITO PICTURE

I Am Not Legend looks at the questions of identity, memory and loss through a contemporary reinterpretation of one of the masterpieces of cinema, George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead (1968). In his animated version of the film, Mastrovito has removed all the zombies and changed the script so that all characters talk exclusively in quotes from the most famous films, books and songs of our era. Through the animation of more than 100,000 images in which digital printing merges with painting and erasure, I Am Not Legend offers a striking, poetic reading of our times.

This project is supported by the Italian Council (6th Edition, 2019) program to promote Italian contemporary art in the world by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity and Urban Regeneration of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.
